You aren’t selfish for prioritizing yourself.
This is a close to home story and has lots of advice I wish I had given to me.

This is something that used to be such a big challenge for me. I would oftentimes throw away any plans I had for myself and my self-care if someone needed me. Not the best practice and I wouldn’t recommend doing this! But I felt bad for saying no to people, even if my cup was empty. How many other people have felt this way?! I’m sure quite a few.
Stop making yourself feel bad for taking care of yourself!
This was a hard hurdle to jump over and if you’re reading this article today, maybe it’s a challenge for you as well. Know that your mental space and self-care need to come first. If you aren’t full and you’re walking around feeling half empty then you’ll only be able to provide half the energy and half the help!
You aren’t a bad person for setting boundaries.
Setting boundaries is a way of respecting your time. If people don’t respect them then that’s their problem, not yours. Those that respect you and your time will honor your boundaries and never challenge you!
Take a bubble bath and sip on your tea a bit longer without guilt.
Allow yourself to slow down and thoroughly enjoy the moments that you give yourself to be slow and quiet. Those emails will be there in an hour after you’ve had a chance to relax. The world of entrepreneurship is tricky and sometimes a bubble bath and a glass of warm tea are all you need to calm some nerves and feel fresh!
Most importantly, you’re not selfish for prioritizing your mental space first.
Often times it’s not “cool” to prioritize your mental space and create healthy boundaries that will allow you to flourish as a human being. It’s a rather new thing or at least not talked about as often as in the typical hustle culture. It might take some a little bit to adjust to your new normal, but that’s the nice part, they’ll adjust. Prioritize you and your mental space so you can flourish everyday and love your life!
