You Are The People You Surround Yourself With
“Choose your friends wisely!”, many have said to me. At first, I didn’t really know what this meant. But the more I get exposed to various environments, the more I realize the importance of choosing the right people to spend my time with.
Human behavior is infectious. As you gradually spend your everyday life with the same group of people, you will naturally inherit habits and qualities from each one of them.
Whether it is a new cooking recipe that you learned from a friend or a way to keep calm during stressful situations, these little behavior patterns will eventually become a part of you.
However, this works both ways. If you are constantly surrounded by people who have a negative effect on your physical and mental health, then those habits will also reflect in your lifestyle.
Hence, it is vital to ‘choose’ your friends wisely. You have every right to abandon people who are bad for you. Selfish? Probably. But this is something you have to be ruthless about.
On the other hand, spending time with people who boost your self-esteem can significantly enhance your daily lifestyle. It is one of the best ways to improve and learn by simply observing the world around you.
Good friends make a good time, but they also make you a good person!
This does not mean just copying over how others are behaving and acting around you. In fact, it’s quite the opposite. Each one of us has our own values and personalities that we hold on to, no matter what.
The beauty of learning from others lies in how we see the good in them, and implement those same habits in our own personal way. Every person knows themselves best, so it’s all about incorporating qualities to make the best version of ourselves!
