Morning Prayer
You Are Never Alone
God will never fall asleep on his watch over you.
King James Version, Philippians 4:13
“I can do all things through Christ who strengtheneth me.”
I repeat this bible verse in my mind every morning after my third alarm goes off and before my foot hits the floor as I lift myself into the start of my day.
I don’t think I’ve told anyone that since I recovered from my decades-long Eating Disorder. I am not hiding my faith or ashamed if I need a mantra to will myself out of bed each day, but it serves a different purpose. I think I didn’t want anyone to imagine I wasn’t ok again.
Precisely those moments of mindfulness and when we are ok are when we shouldn’t forget to call on God. I know no matter who is in my home, whether alone, distressed, or joyful around me, I always have one person on my side. God is always with me and in me. I will never take my steps alone.
Some days this verse gives me a mental reassurance for my flawed, sinful human brain to memorize and imprint its hope within me. Most days, though, it is pure gratitude for His strength that will never let me down.
The Lord gifted me this first step. I ask Him to use me. Where shall we go together, Lord?
