You Are Free
What Will You Choose?
Sometimes we need to remind ourselves that we are free! No matter where we are, what circumstance we find ourselves in or what mistakes we may have made — we get to choose freedom over bondage.
If fact, we are so free — we can choose bondage over freedom. I point no fingers when I say this because there have been many times in my life when I did the former with the choices I freely made.
“No!” you say, that can’t be right. “I wouldn’t choose being in a concentration camp, for instance.”
No, I didn’t say that you would. I only said that you still can be free. It’s all within your mind to do so with your thoughts and many have done so. Despite the atrocity many faced, some remained ultimately free even in their bondage. No one can take your spirit without your permission.
Did you ever see the movie, “Life is Beautiful,” where — through will, humor, and imagination, a father convinces his son that what is really happening within the confines of a concentration camp is that it’s all a game show and the end-prize is a real-life tank? Has he not given the boy freedom despite what is happening? Isn’t the father and boy free to be happier even in this living hell?
While this book & movie was a fictional tale, do you think others throughout time did not persevere and create freedom in their own minds in order to escape the unspeakable?
We all know Anne Frank was real & she told her story in “The Diary of A Young Girl”. She and her family had to hide in a home for two years & she ultimately paid the price of death. Yet we see her indomitable spirit that sets ours free in such quotes as:
“I don’t think of all the misery, but of the beauty that still remains.”

I think to myself that if people throughout history were able to do this, why can’t we? They were able to find freedom even in bondage. And when I compare myself to them . . . well I should be dancing in the streets!
So today, join me. Proclaim your freedom once again. You get to choose what life you want to have. You get to choose the thoughts that will bounce around in your head.
It’s your life. Make it a beautiful one!
