Summary

The Readers and Writers Book Club (RaWBC) on Medium invites members to read a selected book each month and publish a story about it using the RaWBC tag on a specific date.

Abstract

The RaWBC is a community initiative on Medium that encourages both readers and writers to engage with a common book each month. Members are expected to publish their insights or stories inspired by the book on a predetermined date, with the option to publish later but not before. The club emphasizes a no-pressure environment, allowing members to participate at their own pace without penalty for missing a month or not completing a book. For the current month, the chosen book is "The Book of Night Women" by Marlon James, with the aim to publish thoughts on it by August 25, 2022. Members are also welcome to suggest future reading material.

RaWBC welcomes all readers and writers of Medium

I mentioned this in last week’s Six On a Saturday, but in case you missed it, Andrew Gaertner came up with the most excellent idea of a book club for both readers and writers of Medium.

Basically, we’ll all read the same book each month and agree to publish a story about it on a specific date. You can publish after that date, just please not before.

When a story is published, please use the RaWBC tag so we’ll know where to find it.

That’s pretty much it as far as guidelines.

We also want it to be a no pressure experience, so if you miss a month or two of reading, just jump back in whenever you like. Ditto for if you don’t finish a book.

This month, we’re reading The Book of Night Women by Marlon James. and aiming to publish our thoughts about it on August 25, 2022.

If you’d like to suggest a title for a future read (fiction or non), you may reach out to Andy or myself.
