You and I are NOT Unique — And That’s a Good Thing
I used to think I was unique.
In Arabic, my name means “Unique”. That fed to this naive belief.
Even if I was one in a million, there’re 7,000 people like me. Of course, I am not one-in-a-million.
We can make friends as we are not unique. Thinking we are unique may lead to a superiority complex and racism.
We can feel empathy for others. Helping with empathy may make life more pleasurable for all.
Even in business, we can survey 100 people and that gives a result with only a 10% margin of error.
When I ran a t-shirt business, the designs we liked were appreciated by hundreds! We could make some money as we thought like others.
We are just like others. And maybe, that is a relatively unique thought itself.
