Yoga When Owning a Cat: Expectations vs Reality
Or what happens when you dust off the yoga mat and your cat sees it.

Yoga is fun and fruitful. But you know what else is fun? Disturbing your owner during their favourite activity. Did someone say “meow”? Cats think they “own” you and everything around them. As far as your cat is concerned, you exist to service them, and all your stuff, including the yoga mats, are toys.
Here’s what happens when you try to do yoga while owning a cat.
#1
Expectation: doing some calming yoga in the morning to feel refreshed, productive and happy.
Reality:

#2
Expectation: warming up and doing some basic poses, such as a “triangle” pose.
Reality:

#3
Expectation: trying out the Paschimottanasana pose (seated forward bend) and bending super far to stretch the leg muscles.
Reality:

#4
Expectation: attempting to beat your own record of the “cobra” pose and hoping to graduate into a “high cobra” today.
Reality:

#5
Expectation: being able to hold the “bridge” post for more than a minute, hence improving your previous results.
Reality:

Conclusion
Getting a cat might have been the best decision in your life, and the pet may act as an emotional support animal. You probably love them to death and consider yourself a cat mom (or dad)! But let’s be honest: you should keep the cat away when doing yoga.
You might be extremely dedicated to practicing yoga, but your cat is beyond curious, and they will ruin every pose you’re trying to master.
