Yau Ma Tei (Hong Kong) Wholesale Fruit Market’s Street Cat

Cat’s Life at Wholesale Fruit Market

Yau Ma Tei (Hong Kong) Wholesale Fruit Market. When the city is already closed, the place starts to bustle with activity. The owners are busy loading their goods, trailers are cutting through the road, shouts are heard, and fruit is piled up everywhere.

Most of the cats in the fruit markets are free-range, living in different shops, nominally not belonging to any of the owners, but having their own territory, knowing how to “go home” but not necessarily needing to. Some owners will provide dry food and water but will not say which cat they own and cannot even touch the cat.

Imagine the entire Fruit Market as a large dormitory, where the residents enjoy a high degree of freedom between street cats and shop cats, a unique form of life for Fruit Market cats.

Since 2016, I had been visiting the Yau Ma Tei Fruit Market for two or three days a month.

So many of them are born, grow up and become parents again. Compared to other street meows, the meowers in Fruit Market are happy.
