Written In The Stars: What Astrology Tells Us About Love Is Blind Season 5
If you’re anything like me, you just couldn’t get enough of Love Is Blind Season 5. This Netflix reality series follows 14 men and 14 women, as they get to know each other’s hopes, fears and deepest secrets, in pursuit of finding a spouse. The catch is, the dates can only take place from behind a wall. The couples are not allowed to see each other until after they get engaged.
Let’s take a look at what astrology has to say about the compatibility of Season 5’s couples. I tried reaching out to the contestants for birth information, but unfortunately, only one of them got back to me. Nevertheless, most of their birthdays are publicly available online, which allows us to dig beyond simple Sun Sign compatibility, even though without a birth time, we can’t see their whole charts. Love may indeed be blind but the stars are not.
JP and Taylor
Taylor and JP were the first couple to get engaged in the pods but that doesn’t necessarily make them compatible. Ambitious and goal-orientated, Capricorns like Taylor know what they want and refuse to settle for anything less. Geminis like JP are air signs, admired for their witty and outgoing nature. However, they can also be flighty and unsure of what they want, which the earthy Capricorn just doesn’t have time for. On the flip-side, while many people appreciate a Capricorn’s dependability, the fun-loving and free-spirited Gemini might find themselves bored and restricted by Capricorn’s rigid and conservative nature.
Taylor was born on 15th January, 1997. So, if we dig a bit deeper, her Moon is either in Aries or Taurus, depending on time of birth. Both signs are headstrong, passionate and stubborn. Born on 7th June, 1991, JP is also an Aries Moon! In astrology, the Moon represents our emotions, the deeper parts of ourselves that are not necessarily visible at first glance. Assuming that Taylor and JP share the same Moon sign, it’s easy to see why these former love-birds were so drawn to each other inside the pods. Just like rams, however, these similarities can ultimately cause them to butt heads!

Izzy and Stacy
Izzy had to break several hearts before he could propose to Stacy, but in the end, she was the one to break his. Born on 26th September, 1989, Stacy is a fun and charming Libra. Izzy was born on 3rd September, 1993, making him a hardworking and analytical Virgo. Ruled by the planet Venus, Libras are hopeless romantics while as earth signs, Virgos tend to be a little bit more practical. Virgos like Izzy express their love by being thoughtful and doing little things to show their partner that they care. However, the connection to Venus also gives Libras like Stacy a love of luxury that the humble Izzy could not live up to, no matter how hard he tried to please her. That said, as air signs, Libras value open communication. While Mercury-ruled Virgos are generally respected for their honesty, they can also be a bit shy and might overthink things.
Izzy was the only contestant kind enough to provide me with his birth time. It turns out he’s a Gemini Rising with an Aries Moon. Aries is bold and passionate while Gemini is adaptable and a good conversationalist. With Izzy and Stacy both having air in their “big 3” it’s no wonder they had so much fun together. Depending on time of birth, Stacy could either be a Leo or a Virgo Moon. Both signs can give someone high expectations, especially when paired with a Libra Sun. While Libras are generally known to be kind and gentle, Stacy’s Libra Sun is also conjunct the planet Mars, giving her a harder, more combative edge.
Lydia and Milton
As the only couple to say “yes” to each other at the altar, Lydia and Milton prove that a Libra-Virgo match can indeed work! The side-by-side signs are actually similar in a lot of ways. For example, Libras and Virgos are both very intellectual and it was their “nerdy” love of rocks that initially brought Lydia and Milton together. Both signs are also very kind. However, this doesn’t mean they are without their differences. Virgos like Lydia are perfectionists, prone to overthinking things. The chill and understanding nature of a Libra like Milton can help to calm down a Virgo like Lydia’s anxiety. On the other hand, while Libras like nice things, they can also be a bit lazy and can get lost in their ideas, which can sometimes frustrate the observant and organized Virgo. While these differences aren’t necessarily dealbreakers, they can sometimes be a source of conflict for this couple.
Looking beyond Sun signs, Lydia was born on 29th August, 1991. Her Moon could either be an Aries or Taurus, depending on time of birth. However, her fiery nature is also explained by a large group of planets in Leo, making her confident, passionate and the life of the party, although perhaps a bit dramatic at times. Meanwhile, Milton was born on 6th October, 1997 making him an honest and forthright Sagittarius Moon. Although more inclined to laugh things off, Sagittarius is also a fire sign, giving him an appreciation for Lydia’s passion.
Aaliyah and Uche
While Aaliyah left the pods after learning that Uche was Lydia’s ex, the couple did try to date in the real world…at least for a while. Aaliyah is a fiery Aries while Uche is an airy Aquarius. Fire and air are said to be compatible, which explains their initial attraction. However, Aquarius is ruled by Saturn, which can make them cold and distant while Aries is ruled by Mars, making them passionate and enthusiastic. Although admired for their uniqueness and creativity, Aquarius can often lack an understanding of other people’s emotions, which is bound to anger an Aries eventually. Unfortunately, I cannot find either of their birth information online so my analysis is limited to Sun Sign compatibility.

Chris and Johnnie
Johnie’s crush on Izzy may have ended things with Chris in the pods, but watching these two goofballs interact, I just couldn’t help feeling like they were made for each other. Chris is a Sagittarius and Johnie is a Gemini. They are “opposite” signs but in astrology, opposites attract, so it comes as no surprise that they continued dating for a while after the experiment. As a fire sign ruled by Jupiter, Sagittarius is often motivated by morals and a sense of righteousness, a trait Chris displayed when he stood up for Johnie at the party. Mercury-ruled Geminis are driven by communication and logic, which can sometimes cause them to overthink or lack decisiveness, hence the conflict with Izzy. However, both signs share a love of learning and a desire to experience life to the fullest. They share a strong sense of humor and want a partner who is also a best friend.
Born on 21st December, 1994, Chris has a Leo Moon, making him proud and protective of the people he loves. However, his Venus is in Scorpio, suggesting both a desire and a fear of vulnerability in love. Johnie was born on 20th May, 1991, which depending on birth time, could make her either a Leo Moon like Chris or a Virgo. Johnie has Venus in Cancer, which like Scorpio, is a sensitive water sign with a deep need for closeness in a relationship. Likewise, their Mercuries are both in stable earth signs, while their Jupiter’s are located in enthusiastic fire signs. Unfortunately, their relationship came to an end after Chris cheated on Johnie. However, the similar elemental make-up of their birth charts suggests a strong attraction and a deep understanding of one another that might have made the relationship work in other circumstances.
