How writing helps you find your voice
Making a change in this busy world

It‘s never been my thing to write. I‘ve always felt intimidated by all the experts in the field. But life is about changing.
Be the change that you wish to see in the world – Mahatma Gandhi
Our lives are filled with work. We often refrain from reflecting on what we are doing. Essentially it‘s often not hard to change. All it takes is a shift in your mindset. A slight change of the angle you‘re viewing things.
For me the change came with reflection. I‘m a 21 year old uni student in Germany. The daily routine was taking a toll on my work, as the Coronavirus was keeping me from physically interacting with my colleagues. The semester ended with online exams. No dinner date with uni students and cheerful chats. And so I entered my practical phase of four months. I wanted to change, change for the better. But life caught up and the great idea vanished away.
As an aspiring software developer Medium is my go to for easy to understand articles and great input. I stumbled across many life-changing articles. One of them by Niklas Göke popped up on my feed this morning. He showed the reader, that to make a change we need to swim against the river of life. We need to stand up and find our voice. We need to tell others of our unique story. Everyone has a story and we have an opportunity to tell the world.
Finally I want to add some words from my favourite book. The book that gives me a purpose and a goal in life. The bible. It is a book that gives me a hope, beyond this world. Think of an anchor for a second. It halts the entire boat and prevents it from drifting away. It stops the boat drifting down the river of meaningless life. God gives us this hope, as the writer to the Hebrews states:
We have this hope as an anchor for the soul, firm and secure.
This security helps me along the way. It gives me the courage to make changes for the better. It also helps me find my voice.
So I challenge you, what is your voice? How can you shine? And how will you swim against the river of comfortable life?
