Writing Prompts to Help You Focus: November 2022
Funking Prompts With Ki

Writers:
Welcome to, uh, later November! There’s a bit of a chill in the air, and I don’t know about you, but that makes me want to sit inside under a warm cozy blanket and write, write, write. But what to write about? Here are this month’s prompts.
Feel free to try as many as you like and/or put your own spin on them. I offer these simply as a springboard for writing inspiration. And tag me if you like, I’d love to read what you create!
How It Works
- Choose your prompt from the selection below. Pick one or as many as you like.
- You may post your prompt response anywhere, at any time, in any publication, or on your own page.
- Just tag me with a shoutout and mention which prompt you chose and why. If you tag me, this will help me see your post.
And now…on with our #funkingprompts for November!
November’s Funking Prompts
Short Fiction:
- The celebrity
- It happened while they were hunting
Poetry:
- Write a humorous character-driven poem, any format
- Thanksgiving
- A sonnet about the loss of love
Creative Non-Fiction*:
- This one Thanksgiving….
- How you discovered that absurdly different talent.
- Pick a photo, any photo, and let it inspire a story.
- Try creating a memoir story in an alternate format. For example: a play script, a poem, etc. It should still have a beginning, middle, and end.
*Feel free to submit these to The Memoirist if they are Memoir! Leave a comment if you would like to be added to the publication.
Anything Goes…but begin your piece with one of these sentences:
- It was so cold, I couldn’t feel my feet.
- The bracelet slipped quietly off her wrist.
Dialogue Only:
- A piece that is dialogue-only. Can be fiction or creative non-fiction. Your topic of choice.
Sensory Inspiration:
- Vision: Look out your window RIGHT now and let it inspire you.
- Smell: The different smells of late November…let them inspire you.
Have fun and happy writing!
