Writing Prompt: The master of the honey pot is calling. Do you answer?
He’s round and he’s fussy, he’s … going be up to no good.

Here’s our fourth prompt for May, where our theme is Free for All:

How do we bear transforming this guy?
Besides being one of the most popular children’s book characters of all time, Winnie the Pooh, was also inspired by a real (teddy) bear named Winnie.
Christopher Robin’s toy bear was named after a Canadian black bear named Winnie who was brought to England during World War I.
Christopher Robin, in turn was based off of A.A. Milne’s son, Christopher Robin Milne. Christopher Milne grew up to hate being his father’s famous inspiration and felt embarrassed by the story his father wrote about him and was relentlessly bullied in school.
He had this to say:
“…it seemed to me almost that my father had got to where he was by climbing upon my infant shoulders, that he had filched from me my good name and had left me with the empty fame of being his son.”
His relationship with his mother was also extremely strained and they did not see each other for the last 15 years of her life.
Hmm, darker than expected
I won’t feel bad about my retelling then!
In case you need the basics on this bear
Winnie the Pooh is a fictional character who first appeared in A. A. Milne’s book, Winnie-the-Pooh (1926). He is a bear who lives in the Hundred Acre Wood with his friends, Piglet, Eeyore, Tigger, Rabbit, and Owl.
Pooh is very fond of honey, and his main goal in life is to find as much of it as possible. He is also very naïve and often gets himself into trouble because of it. However, he is also a very kind and friendly bear, always willing to help out his friends. In the end, they all learn valuable life lessons.
Now, how are you going to make that your own?

Your story must:
- Be min 100 and max 1000 words long, excluding the title, subtitle, and any post-story bio/links. (We use Medium’s own word count feature.)
- We recommend tagging your story Fiction, Flash Fiction and maybe your genre too. Or 100 Word Challenge if you’re doing that. But it’s your choice.
