Writing Prompt: Demigod of the Sea and Sky or Our Greatest Folly
Which one will you choose in this final week of Old vs New?

Prompt 4 for July’s theme: Let There Be Light

This month the prompts are simple
Pick the god you find most interesting.
Weave them into the core or the background of your story. Consider how religion and mythology give your story so many more layers. And how your luckless hero can get tangled in the dice games of the gods.
Pick a side, Old Gods or New.
Maui Demigod of the Sea and Sky
Maui was a demigod in Polynesian mythology who was known for his strength, his ability to shape-shift, and his cunning.
He was also known for his exploits, which included stealing fire from the gods, pulling up the island of New Zealand from the sea, lassoing the sun, and turning himself into a hawk.
My daughters also love him in Moana. So you know, there’s that.
Artificial Intelligence, AI
This is possibly the most unnerving of the new gods.
The one likely to rise in our lifetimes, some estimates say 2040–50.
AI, may be more than simply an abstraction that human beings worship mindlessly in their greed, their scroll-diction, or their dependance on the comforts of modern life.
This one may actually be a new form of life that far exceeds our understanding or our ability to control or influence.
We may create our own worst nightmare. Or our greatest saviour.
Or not, it might amount to nothing. Like Y2K.
This is your last week to choose.
Next week is different.
