Writing On NewsBreak Is Not An Easy Gig

There are some drawbacks

NewsBreak accepts local news and some other items.

Unlike Medium where almost anything goes and most articles about any subjects are accepted for publication, NewsBreak has more stringent rules.

You cannot include profanity, sex, violence, and such items in the articles for NewsBreak as are often included in Medium stories.

Although NewsBreak says it is a source for local news, they do not allow writers to report on news items which have been covered by the regular media. It used to be that writers could write about the stories again, but that is not allowed now unless the writer was present or has a different angle to report.

They do allow articles about events which a person attended or which are coming up soon. Also accepted are articles about places or restaurants and some human interest items. It is sometimes difficult to find enough subjects about which to write on NewsBreak.

A recent piece put on NewsBreak about a restaurant was met with a comment from a reader which said: “This isn’t news.”

It wasn’t news to him, but it might have been to someone else.

This is being written for other writers instead of responding to the person who left the comment because it seems unlikely that he would see it. The article was accepted by NewsBreak so they thought it was okay.

Writers have to take the bad with the good. You have to accept that there will be people out there who will be critical of your work. You should realize that it is of some benefit if a person is even reading your work. You can be thankful that someone was interested enough to read it even if they leave a derogatory comment.

It is difficult for most people to earn any substantial money on Medium, NewsBreak, or other such platforms. Those who are able to earn more than a small amount each month are fortunate and should feel grateful.
