Writing Mentors and Courses are a Waste of Time and Money! Just Start and Keep Consistent, that is The Secret. Rome was not Built in a Day!
Save your money and use it for something more important!
I’m sure that many writers here on Medium have come across the many people who either call themselves mentors or are viewed as mentors. How many Medium writers are ready to bow down and hand over their money to these faux kings and queens of Medium?
Hell, even I have fallen for some of these gimmicky courses that many of these writing mentors like to talk about. I know we are all in here trying to find ways to make money so that we don’t have to work so hard. We are out here looking for that code that will allow us to hack Medium and have all its riches and power envelope us!
The power of becoming Medium Rich is real on this platform!
In reality, there is no “Hack” or key that will open any platform. What these writing mentors do not tell you is that at times, many of their products do not work for the newbie writer just starting out. They do not answer all of the questions you have and most sell you tips that you already know or worse try to upsell you to their next product.
Trust me! I have been here on Medium way before they started paying us writers, and yet I still wrote on this platform from time to time. I did not have to seek out any writing mentors or buy a course for me to understand. I just jumped off the cliff and learned on my way down.
I have written for other content mills before Medium, I even had a blog back in the day that I worked on, and during that time I learned how to get eyes on my work by reading about it on other websites, blogs, and even YouTube. Free resources taught me how to use SEO and sprinkle words here and there so that the Google Spiders and Medium algorithm can push my work in front of people.
Mind you I’m no expert, but I know enough that my work can be seen by others and for that, you do not need a writing mentor or spend hundreds to thousands on writing courses. Just work at it, read books on how to better your work, experiment like many Medium writers are doing. Eventually, you will get there! There is no magic trick! Just keep consistent and ideas will come to you.
Just keep writing and you will figure it out your own way. To hell with the rules — they are meant to be bent anyway.
