Seems like easy enough advice, right? But there’s one little problem: The internet! There are so many distractions on the web that it can be hard to get anything done. You know what I mean.

One minute you’re reading an article about how your favorite celebrity got married, and the next thing you know, you’re scrolling through your newsfeed for hours.

What does this mean for your writing goals? Well, it means that if you want to make writing a habit, then it needs to be something that is important enough for you to take time away from everything else.

It needs to become so irresistible that when you have a free moment, any time at all, the first thing you think of is “I should blog!” So here are some tips on how to make writing a habit.

Focus on small, achievable goals

The first thing you’ll want to do is focus on small, achievable goals. Writing every day can be hard! And it’s even harder when you’re setting lofty ambitions for yourself.

Your goal doesn’t have to be “I’m going to write three blog posts this week.” Instead, try something like “I’m going to write for 15 minutes each day.”

This way, it’s more manageable. You also won’t feel so overwhelmed if you are feeling stuck or are having a tough time with your writing.

If you set smaller goals, you can make success seem less daunting.

There are some great apps out there that remind you of things at certain times or intervals, so make sure you find one that works for you!

Reward yourself when you meet your goals

And if you’re not enjoying it, then you’ll never want to do it.
