Writing about Writing is not only for the Writers
What is wrong about writing about writing?
I like writing and I like writing about writing too. I also like reading about writing because most of the time I get encouraged by other writers who have written about writing.
I know some people don’t really like to see the writing-platform being full of stories about writing. However, I think we need to write about writing sometimes and here are some reasons why.
It’s not only for writers, but also for readers
I have liked reading people’s short stories since I was younger. And, many of my favourite authors have written about writing. Also, lots of poets wrote about writing poetry too.
As a reader, I liked reading about those stories. I was curious about what was going on in their brain when they are writing and how they had gotten inspiration for their stories.
It is also thrilling to read that kind of ‘behind the stories.’ It makes you feel as if you are sitting at the backstage to see your favourite actors or dancers preparing.
To develop the writing platform you need good writers
Another thing is that you need to have good writers to increase the number of readers on the platform.
If you are a Medium writer and you have a publication, maybe it‘s’ easy to understand what I mean. When you want to have lots of followers (=readers) of your publication, you have to have lots of good-quality stories. In order to have high-quality stories, you need to get good writers.
When you want to get the attention of other writers, the stories about writing could immediately attract them.
We need to be well-balanced
Of course, we need to take a balance. You can constantly write only about writing as long as you are the writer for the writers or a professional consultant of writing. If you are not, you have to write something else as well that you love to write.
We, writers are more or less ‘selling’ the slice of our life and experience. It is kind of embarrassing to reveal our life and history, but I think that is the time when we can make some money.
In that sense, what is wrong about writing about writing if writing is a part of your life? It’s an important part of my life and a big slice of my day.
