Setting The 90 For 90 Medium Stories Writing Goal.
Writing 100 Medium stories in less than 3 months was quite a challenge, for me anyway. Medium stories range from a 4-minute read to as much as 15-minute reads. Around 1000 to 3000 words on average per Medium story.
Yes, I had to start over on Medium because of my own stupidity. But I have mentioned that several times, so many of you might already know this. Just putting it out there for those who do not yet know about that. Previously I have been on Medium since 2017.
Starting again on October 6, 2022. I set a goal for myself. 90 high-quality Medium stories in 90 days. With one week to spare before the 90-day challenge is over. I am posting this (Medium Story 100) with another 7 days to spare.
With an entire week to spare, and still being on leave (with my day job). Maybe I can beat my own challenge by 33%, by aiming for 120 Medium stories in 90 days. But we will see.

Before we carry on, I will have you know that after I publish this 100th Medium story, I am pouring a “Jack Daniels Honey” on the rocks. No coffee this time around, I am celebrating!
And because I’m not a drinker, just one should be quite enough. That bottle of Jack Daniels Honey has been in my kitchen cupboard for months…lol! Maturing, and waiting, so I’m tackling it with gloves on!
Three months later (well 7 days short of 3 months) the stats for each month fluctuated quite a bit. But December was “booming” in comparison, making me rather excited for 2023.
Below you can see a screenshot of my Medium stats during October when I started again. What is impressive (to me anyway) is the views-to-read ratio. 1,584 views with 847 reads. That is a 54% read ratio. More than half of the viewers actually read my content.

To me, the views-to-read ratio is rather important because it tells whether your target audience is interested in your work or not. When they read it, they obviously are.
November dropped a bit, but I was also focusing on other platforms like Quora. No excuse, just saying But with November’s views at 1,173 and reads at 491. That is still a 42% read conversion which I consider to be quite good. I am happy with that.

For December 2022, thus far, I have almost reached the 200 views per day mark, the best day being 188 views at the time of writing this Medium story.
From the below illustration, you can see that December started looking a lot better, although admittedly the views-to-read ratio had declined slightly. But still, a 32% read conversion.

This concludes the views, reads, and fans over the last (almost) 3 months. It may not be fireworks, but I think not bad for less than 3 months back on Medium. The point is that there is consistent activity and growth.
As you can see below. Followers started off with 108 in October, then dropped to +58 in November. Then climbed a good bit again in December with +129. Currently at 298 followers and 10 subscribers.
Yes, it’s not much, but the point is that it is increasing. There is activity, and there is growth. That to me is more important than volume. Because when you know your content and strategy are reaching the right audience.
Then you just keep going that way. So, we will see where I am on Medium by next year this time. Let’s give it another year, shall we? Although that means at least another 365 high-quality posts.

What this proves is that Medium stories are worth it.
In my opinion, writing stories on Medium is worth it. It has been before, and it is again my second time around. Personally, I write Medium stories and include affiliate offers. I’m a digital marketer, what can I say?
But I also comply with all the rules. However, my readers need not buy anything for my content marketing strategies in the Medium stories to work for them. Because it is not and will never be just about the sales.
Just this year (2022) January, was one of my best months with regard to online sales with affiliate marketing. All thanks to Medium, and then I went and kicked myself in the nuts. And I can blame only one person…me!
But “falling off the horse” does not mean I’m going to stay there lying in the mud! I had that a few times in real life, by the way. So I know very well to get back up and get back “on the horse”, immediately!
It can only throw you off so many times, and then it will accept you. So, here I am, again! This time around with a lot more knowledge and experience, this horse is not throwing me off again, no sir!
Although I have lost quite a lot of content, not to mention social posts with “dead” links. Writing stories on Medium is still so much worth your time, and I mean that.
My second time around I made a few amazing new discoveries I never noticed before. Like Medium publications and am currently writing for 11 well-known Medium publications. But have also started 8 of my own!
With the growth as illustrated, I am rather excited to see what happens in 2023.
