Writers, Why Do You Tag So Many Fellows in Medium Stories?
Tagging randomly is not a good practice
Hello Everyone! I hope everything is going well in your life.
Dear Medium fellows, you know that medium is one of the largest online platforms. It provides both reading and writing opportunities. The interested people come and join medium daily.
New writers are struggling to join the medium partner program. The rest of the writers are struggling to earn well.
Unfortunately, very few writers are earning a handsome amount via the medium.
Being medium writers, we know that medium provides us an opportunity to tag fellow writers. Whenever someone from the medium tag the other fellow writer, the medium sends you a push notification via email. I like it. The email notification alarms you about the story and writer who tagged you. It also creates an urge to open and read the story. I got curious about why some writers have tagged me in their medium stories.
To overcome this curiosity, I open up the story via an email link. The funny thing is I read the whole story and tried to find my name. I also read it to find the purpose of tagging me.
I am grateful to all those who tag me to appreciate my work. Some fellows tag me to invite at writing prompts. I also try to participate in their prompts. In this way, the chain of stories keeps on running.
I have no question if you tag one or more writers for the writing prompts, but I do not like the unnecessary tag.
I do not know why writers are doing so. They randomly tag writers. It might be to increase reading time at stories. Some also do this for connection. Today, I got an email notification about the tag. As usual, I quickly visit and read the story. At the end of the story, I saw a long list of tagged writers, as shown in the picture.

My first reaction was weird. I was like — what, so many writers. I scrolled to find out my name, but failed to find it. When I saw a long list of writers, I stopped thinking, “why did this writer tag me?” The story is not related to any prompt. I appreciated that story as the story was informative. The only thing I did not like was the excessive tags.
That long list of tagged writers has enabled me to write this story. The question — Writers, Why do you tag so many fellows at medium stories? It will remain the same. It is an obvious question to all those writers who randomly start tagging other writers.
Furthermore, it is not a good practice that writers are doing.
Dear taggers, if you are doing so to increase the reading time, you should stop this practice. It is not the right way to grow at medium.
Tagging will not ensure the quality of the article. It is only a way of attracting readers for a short period. Here I have some suggestions for you:
- To grow organically at medium, kindly follow the practice of writing.
- Write something good, like on a good topic or idea.
- Choose an appealing topic from any niche you are interested in.
- You should know how to compile any idea.
- Practice your writing skills as much as you can. It is the best thing to do with medium stories.
I hope you will look at this topic and follow the suggestions.
