How To Serve An Audience While You Get Better As A Writer

The alternative serves nobody

Don’t write in a word processor and never share your work.

That doesn’t serve you. You can practice your craft in secret, but how are you going to find out your progress?

After all, we do need social proof that our creative endeavors mean something and help people if we want to one day sell it in a book or course.

You don’t help yourself or serve your project by keeping your work to yourself. This is a grave mistake of many would-be creators.

Ultimately, they never share their work and when they do, it hears crickets because they don’t have anyway around them to help.

Don’t be this creator. Don’t sell yourself short.

But, it’s not only about you.

The more you keep to yourself, the less you can help other people.

If your creative work is only for you, then you might as well stop creating. If you want to make money, but you won’t consider your audience, then you might as well give up.

Your creative work is a service to the world. And if you refuse to acknowledge, accept, and act accordingly… Well, you might as well stop now while you are ahead.

I know, I know, this sounds harsh.

Yet, I have found that the more we keep our work inward and don’t share it, the less it helps others and the less it helps us.

What is worse to me is when someone complains about it not getting orders, making money, or gathering followers.

In these cases, they made their bed by not practicing in public. People want to go on the journey with you and now, all of a sudden, you tossed a book on their doorstep and they don’t know anything about you.

Don’t be a fool. You need to practice in public. This is for your and for your reader. And the your audience and true reader will follow you from rough work to polished book.
