MY LIFE
Writer Bio — Michael Burg, MD
This is me in a nutshell
This excellent idea is borrowed from Whitney Rose of “Flicker and Flame” fame who published her own writer bio there.
Here’s mine.
At various times in my life I’ve been:
Zygote (a gleam in my Army-dad engineer’s eye)
Newborn (Brooklyn, poorly remembered)
Child (pretty fun and normal)
Teen (wild child, almost went to Woodstock but parents wouldn’t let me so stayed home and prepared for my bar mitzvah, hitchhiked across the US, worked as a moving man, danced ballet for six years, traveled, grew my hair, serial college dropout, lots more)
20-something (poorly directed, in the extreme, started a rock-n-roll booking agency, 3rd college attempt succeeded, launched me in to the hell that is med school 😊)
ER Doc (30+ years worth, took me lots of interesting places — Africa, Amsterdam, S. America, provided lots of story material)
Academic ER Doc (writer, editor, mentor, adviser, leader, all the usual academic stuff for the last 20 years of my 30-year professional life)
ER Doc retired (now writer and something-else wannabe, i.e. global nomad, teacher, quien sabe?)
Medium Michael (saddled with the twin burdens of Top Writer status in Humor and Satire and multiple “curationings,” always trying to be a better writer)
Passions (travel, adventures, new experiences, new ideas, boogie boarding, living a positive life, oh and writing)
