Write Like a Hungry Millionaire
Creating content from a place of success hits differently.
Writers are some of the most talented people on the planet. Harnessing the energy of words and stringing them into a cohesive succession of sentences that entertain, inform, and inspire, is one of the greatest gifts bestowed upon humans. We are so incredibly lucky to have the time and energy to bang these words out and share them with the world. But what makes one writer more successful than others, and what does being a millionaire have to do with anything?
What is writing but a process that transmutes the energy flowing through us into a language our audience can consume? To write is to engage in the ultimate act of sharing our energy and time. It’s a beautiful process.
Everything is energy and that is all there is to it. Match the frequency of the reality you want and you can not help but get that reality. It can be no other way. This is not philosophy. This is physics.
— Albert Einstien
This is where writing like a millionaire comes in. It’s not necessarily about money so much it’s about working with the vibration of aspirational success. Writing like a millionaire simply means that a level of success has been reached, infusing confidence and additional value to the work. Even the energy attached to the word millionaire is attractive. That’s why you chose to read this story. That’s the energy at work.
Writing is the Juxtaposition of Physics + Philosophy
I’m a writer’s writer. I want all of us wordcrafters to achieve our goals and reach the success of our dreams. Successful writing only happens when the energy feels right, and only if you write the things you publish. Copying and pasting from AI chatbots doesn’t count as writing, and I shall perish upon this hill.
AI lacks the energy that only human writers possess. I recently recognized AI-generated content here on Medium after I read only one story I prompted on ChatGPT. The easily recognizable content lacks soul and true expression because a machine possesses neither a soul nor a philosophy. It only runs on emotionless code. Copypasta content lacks a voice.
Sure, AI-generated content can earn money, but that, too, has its limits.
Don’t get me wrong, AI has its uses. I used ChatGPT to fine-tune the elements of the outline for my latest novel, but I would never copy and paste AI-generated content and pass it off as my writing. Being a writer requires the act of writing beyond typing in a prompt for AI generation.
When the energy that fuels expression collides with philosophical musings, words are produced. Writing is the energetic, physical manifestation of an expressed philosophy or a story that’s been waiting to be told. Words contain not only energy but actual power: the power to catalyze change, inspire new worlds, and the power to generate millions.
But one must love the process of writing more than one cares about the results.
A Lifelong Love Affair
My infatuation with words began at the wee age of three when I saw my mother’s excitement as I read aloud words like dog, cat, and bug. “My daughter began reading three-letter words when she was three,” my Mom proudly told anyone who’d listen. It was in those precious moments in my mother’s arms that I realized that words have power, and by reading, I was able to harness and use their power.
Writers know when the rhythm hits and the words come streaming out. It’s like an unstoppable deluge of energetic expression that is manifesting itself through us in a decipherable way. It feels like magic. I know that when I’ve forced myself to step away from work because my body needs sleep, food, or a bubble bath, my mind remains with the work. I obsess over my characters and their development. I remain preoccupied with my overflowing drafts tab here on Medium, as well as the blog posts yet to be published.
My essence is consumed by the words yearning to be expressed.
A Writing Block to Break Through Writer’s Block
As I collected years and books, I realized that words are my jam. My life’s purpose is to write. No matter which non-comms, non-writing job I worked, I was always miserable and caught myself thinking, “I’d rather be writing.” When I began writing my first book (affiliate link) a decade ago, getting into the keyboard-tapping rhythm of a writing block felt so easy and blissful. I never wanted to stop.
Selfishly, I continue to do this because writing feels like home. Even if this article sucks; gets zero views, no claps, or replies, the fact that I released the words when they bubbled over through me is the closest thing to true freedom I’ve ever indulged in. Strangely, it’s been years since I’ve experienced writer’s block.
I noticed that writer’s block went away when I began obsessing about my work. I always felt desperate to put pen to paper or tap this keyboard. When I felt the hunger to create worlds and work through words, the resistance went away. It’s a distinctly different sensation from physical hunger, but it is a hunger nonetheless.
My favorite book that first helped me connect energy, a hungry work ethic, and millionaires is The Education of Millionaires (Affiliate link) by the magnificent Michael Ellsberg. I gleaned many invaluable lessons from this book, the most important of which was to work from a place of hunger fueled by confidence, experience, and discipline.
Starving to Create
The hunger to write is akin to a gnawing sensation, almost like an addiction. The concepts and stories gnaw at my consciousness, begging to be released. I don’t look forward to the day when I might experience writer’s block again, because as a wordsmith, hitting a wall is inevitable. Luckily, all writer’s block is temporary and the hunger to create will make words inevitable again.
Succeeding is simple because success is nothing more than a choice. It’s the inevitable result of showing up and working from a place of hunger while writing with a millionaire’s confidence that the stories we tell and the wisdom we impart have the potential power to change minds and lives.
For now, I will happily keep tapping these keys and clicking “publish.” As I am as hungry to share these words as I’m hungry to read yours.
