This is a brand new publication and community for readers and writers alike. As we emerge from lockdown, we walk into the unknown wonders of a new era of digital and technological advancement. As well as a new hybrid way of working that replaces the outdated Victorian working styles.
We want your stories on work, life, leisure, and play. After such a dark period we welcome your more humorous reflections of life post-pandemic…
Part 1: Submitting an article
Please read through the writer’s guidelines below to fully understand the stories we accept here.
Contributing to this publication:
If you wish to contribute to this publication please leave a response to this piece stating that you’d like to be ‘added as a writer’ (just scroll down on this article until you find the response icon). Don’t forget to include your Medium @username. *We will try to add you within 7 working days.
If you are successful you will be able to add a story to our publication. If you have not added an initial story after 3 months you will be withdrawn as a writer to make way for new and more active writers.
Under edit, click the “…” located at the top right of your story. Click “Add to Publication” and then select “New Era” to submit!
*** IMPORTANT NOTICE: Please do not forget to include your Medium Username so we can ensure we have added the correct person. Failure to do so will mean we are unable to get you added as a new writer. Some publications are now only excepting writers with 100 followers! At New Era, we believe everyone has to start somewhere. Therefore we do accept new writers on this platform or people with a follower count of below 100. Although we ask that you produce high-quality stories that follow the guidelines, thank you***Adding a photograph and citing sources:
Please ensure that you always include a photograph and cite the source, even if you are using free stock images. Do NOT use photographs that you don’t legally have the right to use. We like purple here, just saying!

Adding tags:
It’s totally up to you what tags you add to your article. All articles should be tagged so that other writers can find your work inside and outside this publication. I highly recommend you use one of our 4 tags that fit in with the theme of your content and 1 of our topic tags so you show on our dedicated topic page as well as the homepage. If sharing the article on social media please use hashtag #NewEraPub

Submitting an article to this publication:
- Only submit drafts or articles published within the last 24 hours in order to receive maximum exposure and readership.
- Ensure you have a good understanding of the Medium Guidelines/Policy before publishing.
- Use titles, taglines, photographs, and subtitles.
- PLEASE check your spelling as well as any potential grammar mistakes before submitting. Make sure your article flows well, is easy to read & understand. I highly recommend submitting your article through Grammarly or Hemmingway before submission.
- Please ensure that the story is your own work.
Making money through the Medium Partner Program (MPP):
New Era does not and will not make money off your stories nor do we have access to your earnings. Owning a publication and editing articles doesn’t get us paid! We are all volunteers here!

This is a relational platform. In order to receive more views, engagement & readership, please interact as much as possible with the other writers in this community. You can do this by reading, following, clapping, highlighting, responding, AND tagging each other to posts. The more active you are within this community the more benefits you will reap.

Part 2: What to submit?
We accept stories on digital, gaming, empathic leadership, diversity and inclusion in the workplace, and all things STEM!
Types of writing styles/formats:
Writing Style: Informative or first-person accounts only.
Format of Title: Do not capitalise every word of your title.
Length: Ideally articles between 4–10 minutes to read, but the absolute max is 15-minute read (2000 words).
Part 3: And Finally…
- Follow this publication. It isn’t good practice as a writer to publish with us if you don’t want to be part of the community and follow us, is it?
- Consider subscribing to our newsletter. Not mandatory, but I do feature the best stories and show case new published members — how will you know if I feature yours?
- Leave a comment including your Medium profile name (starting with the @ Symbol if you want to write for us!
