The Random Nerdiness Collective is an idea I came up with when thinking about how many of my rants and stories have gone self-published and haven’t found much of an audience. I wasn’t really promoting these stories. I hadn’t really formatted them. They were musings I had early on as a new writer.

I decided to go back through them today and edit them to make them look more desirable and even did some minor editing to them. Some of my earlier stuff was downright unreadable even though it had the elements of good writing. No wonder people weren’t reading them. Well, anyway, I wanted to build off of my own personal collection and random musings and invite even more writers to come over and do the same thing.

I will accept self-published, older, random stories. Just keep in mind that Medium only shows the most recent stories on the homepage and it still sorts everything by date so a story from 2021 or older might not immediately show up. Honestly, I’d prefer that you send in new unpublished drafts for me to review as your stories. Make sure to follow Medium’s guidelines for publishing.

I’m accepting new writers, experienced writers, and everything in between. I’m also looking for editors. I would like to find editors with some editorial experience to correct any minor errors or grammatical issues found in any submitted stories.

I have been the owner and editor of my first publication, Digital Global Traveler, for the last 2 months.

I try not to correct too much of the original work myself as I want the style and wording of the original draft to come through for the writer. I won’t be doing much editing in terms of rewriting any of your work. I will only correct spelling and punctuation errors missed on the initial writer’s edit. I also plan on doing writing prompts in the future for anyone who wants to participate. I will also plan out theme weeks so that we can give newer writers random ideas and rants to write about when writer’s block sets in.

When I’m financially secure enough, I might start to consider doing writing contests as well. That’s still a ways away in the future but it’s definitely an idea. The publication will have a newsletter that will release monthly. It will just include any progress for the group and give a personal shout-out to the members of the group and include other exciting highlights.

I’m going to be setting up a social media page to draw in new members and also for promoting the stories contained here. I’m very excited to have started this new publication. I want to see the nicheless and the nerdy come here and feel like they’re writing exactly where they should be. I want to build a community and most importantly I want to make sure your random ideas, rants, and interests are highlighted for people to see. If this sounds fun and interesting to you, then I can’t wait to write and read with you.
