Looking for a publication for your fiction on Medium? Start here.
Many fiction writers on Medium self-publish or start their own publication to house their stories, but if you’re looking to connect with more readers, it can be a good idea to consider submitting your story to a publication that focuses on fiction.
Here’s a list of twelve active fiction publications on Medium, plus links to their submission guidelines for easy access.

The Lark
The Lark shares fictional short stories, serial fiction, and poetry.
The Lark is run by Denise Larkin and has 3.6k followers. It accepts flash fiction (300–600 words) and short stories (600–4,000 words). Fiction series are accepted up to 50,000 words. Note: submissions are only accepted from Medium members.
Microcosm
A place for tiny stories that capture something much larger. Single moments of a vast journey, a single frame of a moving picture.
Microcosm has 1.3k followers and is currently run by Zane Dickens and Paul Mansfield. Microcosm publishes stories that are between 100 and 1000 words, with monthly themes and weekly prompts.
Fictions
Your best and bravest stories, mined from your imagination.
Fictions currently has 191 followers and publishes stories that are at least five minutes of read time. They also accept long-form stories serialized over multiple posts. Fictions was founded by Danielle Loewen, Paul Combs, and Eric Pierce.
Total Fiction
If it is a good Fiction tale, there is a place here for it in Total Fiction.
Total Fiction currently has 94 followers and publishes all genres and all lengths of fiction. You must be a paid member of Medium to submit a story. Total Fiction is run by T. Mark Mangum.
Lit Up
Here you can read and submit short stories, flash fiction, poetry — in brief, your own legend. We’re starting little. But that’s how all big stories begin.
Lit Up currently has 10.2k followers and publishes fiction, poetry, and creative writing that’s structured to tell a story. The publication is run by a team of editors headed up by founder and Editor-in-Chief DiAmaya Dawn.

Promptly Written
Write whenever, wherever the mood strikes you.
Promptly Written currently has over 678 followers and posts daily, weekly, and monthly prompts to inspire fiction and poetry, as well as articles and opinion pieces. It is run by a team of editors led by Editor-in-Chief Ravyne Hawke.
Fantasy Shorts
We keep it short around here so you can read at least one story on your potty break.
Fantasy Shorts currently has 426 followers and publishes only fantasy short stories that are 1,000 words or less. It is run by J.A. Taylor, Rod Castor, and R. D. Holland.
Update: Fantasy Shorts closed two days after this story was published. They are, however, accepting submissions for an anthology.
The Storyteller’s Vault
Prompts, Poems, Short Stories, and Non-Fiction
The Storyteller’s Vault is run by Chelsea Marie and currently has 167 followers. It accepts fiction, poetry, and nonfiction stories written in response to the publication’s prompts.
The Creative Cafe
This is a place for compulsive creators, their work, and their stories. Prompts twice a month and stories published every day(ish).
The Creative Cafe has 101k followers and is brought to you by Likewise. They publish flash fiction, poetry, and creative non-fiction.
Literally Literary
We’ve Got a Story for You
Literally Literary has 27k followers and is run by Indira Reddy, Heath ዟ, and Jess Kaisk. They accept fiction, poetry, non-fiction, essays, and prompt fiction.
The Junction
The Junction is a digital crossroads devoted to stories, culture, and ideas. Our interests are legion.
The Junction currently has 13.8k followers and is run by Stephen M. Tomic, Mike Sturm, and Sven Howard. They publish fiction series, short stories, flash fiction, poetry, humor, and memoir. Length is generally limited to 3,000 words unless it’s a series.
A Bit of Madness
Sometimes, things go differently.
A Bit of Madness currently has 84 followers and is run by Arthur G. Hernandez. It focuses on the fantasy and horror genres, and publishes both short stories and fiction series.

Tales when the clock strikes twelve.
Midnight Tales is a brand new publication created by Min L. It has spooky, magical midnight vibes and publishes stories that are 5 minutes of read time or less.
