Submission rules
Submissions are accepted from Medium members only who write articles about travel. Articles self-published on your Medium profile are also accepted but not if they have been published in a publication.
Please note: You must not delete an article and then republish it on your profile and then send it to us as that will be a violation of Medium’s rules.
Submission guidelines
Please read the Medium rules before submitting your story. Follow the Medium curation guidelines before you send your work here. Read the photo guidelines and the setting out guidelines there.
You must also follow this publication before being accepted.
Also, please use the tag ‘Hotspot Travellers’ and ‘Travel’.
Photos
You can use your own photos but if you do, make sure you state it’s your photo in the image caption underneath the photo. Use Unsplash when you need a photo by clicking the plus sign in the space and clicking on the ‘add an image from Unsplash’ search button to find an image. Unsplash is preferred as a photo if you do not use your own. Pictures and art created by the author are also acceptable. Other photos will be allowed providing you say where it is from and who it belongs to with a link. No damaging photos of any kind ie. photos of children holding guns. NOTE — we prefer Unsplash images or your own photos here on Hotspot Travellers.
Read this article on how to access Unsplash photos within your draft. Be advised — if you do not add an image caption your photo will be changed to an Unsplash photo of our choosing!
Articles needed
Articles from 200 words and up about travel, holidays, short breaks, city travel, flight reviews, visiting places, museums, and more are welcome. Posts can have full of pictures with little words (200 words at least). A limit of ten pictures is allowed. Please do not go over this.
Being accepted
If you want to write for this publication then apply by emailing [email protected] with the following statement in the heading of the email and your Medium profile link:
“I want to write about travel for Hotspot Travellers publication.”
Once you have followed us and are accepted as a writer you will be added to this publication so you can submit your work to Hotspot Travellers. You will be added to the writers’ list once your profile has been reviewed. Once you have been added you can add your story to the publication after you have written it by clicking on the three dots at the above right of your draft article where a dropdown list will appear. Click on ‘Add to publication’ and choose ‘Hotspot Travellers’. Once your story has been checked and read, and if it’s successful, it will be published.
Please make sure you spellcheck your work and read the curation guidelines on how to structure your heading, subtitle, and where your picture should go. If your article is set up in the right way then it will be published quickly. If it is not, we will be in touch with you or your article could be refused.

Please allow up to 24 hours for your story to be published.
