Write a Note to Yourself When You are Motivated
You won’t always be

Procrastination hits you differently when you lose sight of the reason for doing something.
We often get hung up on the day to day mundane tasks of our life we lose focus on the bigger picture.
It is bound to happen, so leave notes for yourself on days when you are feeling extra motivated.
If you can remember why you started, then you will know why you must continue — Chris Burkmenn
Meditation seems to do wonders for my buddy. She wouldn’t stop raving about it.
The sense of peace. The clarity that follows. She is amazed by all the benefits of meditation.
But I know that feeling doesn't last, so I told her to do something.
In the moment while she was motivated and inspired, I asked her to make a note in her journal.
To write all the reasons she likes to meditate. I told her to write her reason for meditating. Her why.
Why she feels meditation is good for her. She asked why does she have to do that. All I said was she will need it someday.
I know she won’t always feel positive about meditation. Some days she will feel unmotivated to meditate.
Other days she might be too tired to do it or simply too busy.
About 2 months later, she told me she hasn’t been in a mood to meditate. Life has gotten too stressful and busy and the last thing she has time for is to meditate. I reminded her of the note. The note reminded her of her why.

For me, it's writing. I love writing. I believe writing is my calling, but writing every day is a bit of a stretch here if I’m being honest.
Loving something doesn’t always mean you will enjoy doing it.
I sometimes have to drag myself to write 500 words. Some days I don’t even see the point.
Other days I am just not interested in writing. I've done the same thing for myself.
I have written a note for myself. I have written down all the reasons I started writing to begin with. Why I love to do it.
The satisfaction it brings me. The sense of fulfillment. I have written this down for days I’m unmotivated to write.
When I read something from myself to myself about the reason I enjoy doing something, I am reminded of why I enjoy doing it in the first place.
It reminds me of all the time I wasted in the wrong places being distracted land not doing my life purpose.
The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away — Anonymous.
I remind myself of all the people out there who count on my writing for hope and inspiration.
I remind myself my daughter can’t see her mommy give up on something she really loved doing because of boredom.
We as humans are bound to lose motivation every now and then.
In fact, I believe a lack of motivation is good for you. Have you noticed the amount of motivation you feel the moment you fight your lack of motivation and get back in the groove?
It’s like no other. It propels you onto new levels of productivity.
As a writer, I get lots of inspiration from the moment following my loss of motivation.
When I feel unmotivated, I have time to sit back doing nothing. But that nothing is everything. It reminds me of why I’d rather be doing something.
Maybe for you, it's working out. There are days you wake up at 5am every single morning to go for your morning run.
On those days when you feel motivated, make notes for yourself. Write all the good working out does for you.
Write down your reason for doing it. Write how great you feel afterward. Write down how much you are able to accomplish after a good workout.
You will need it for those days when it's hard to get yourself out of bed. You will need it for those days when you feel it's no point to workout. You will need it for whatever reason you are not motivated.
Sometimes we are unmotivated because the task is daunting. The thought of the blood, sweat, and tears is enough to make you lose your motivation. You forget about the long-term benefits and rewards, which is important to stay motivated.
Every time when you don’t feel unmotivated, visualize the rewards you’re trying to get.
Don't forget to celebrate small wins often. When you manage to get out of bed to go workout when you are tempted to hit the snooze button, celebrate that.
For my friend, I advise her to celebrate the days she goes a little longer than usual meditating. That is worth celebrating.
For me, I celebrate the days when I manage to write a 2 min read when I’d rather just sit on the couch and watch my favorite tv show.
Writing a note for yourself ensures you have a reminder for the reason you started doing something. That along with celebrating small wins every day enhances your motivation and boost your self-confidence.
