[WP] “we thought they were dead… No one had seen any sign of them in millennia… We should have left their planet alone… But now the sleeping dragon has awoken, 𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙮 are back with a vengeance.”
“A thousand years later and now they want vengeance on our accidental genocide?”
“Yes”
“I mean technically it shouldn’t have been that bad, look at that military they’ve got now!.. So what are they back for? Do they know we don’t live as long as them? We aren’t the same people that attacked them”
“All the same to them”
“Yeah and then they’re idiots. Let’s wipe the floor clean with them again, but this time they won’t come back.”
“We can’t compete with them. What’s left of our fleet is in orbit above Earth. Nothing else”
President Kane slouched in his leather seat rubbing his forehead. Only in the last 200 years have we had such world leaders. Finally, a united world and this is the shit I have to deal with? Why not the next President?
“It’s been 3 hours how is that possible? They’ve gone through all of our moons, outposts and Mars?”
“Yes they should be here surrounding Earth shortly”
“Okay..fine. Options?”
“They don’t seem to want to pulverize the planet”
“Yay me, and that means what General?”
“Space domain is lost, but it seems they want to capture the planet. For what reasons I have no idea, but our best chance is to beat them on the ground. And it so happens to be where most of our military is stationed at”
“Excellent”
“However there’s one problem”
President Kane rolled his eyes.
“What?”
“Every planet or moon they’ve taken they never landed a single soldier or fired a shot towards it. We’ve seen the same pattern each time. A transmission was detected. Then only one ship-like object was launched, landed and that’s all we knew. We’ve tried to hail Mars and the moons, but no response. We think they’re listening, but for some reason, they refuse to answer. We’ve monitored activity on the planet, and things are operating as normal.”
President Kane sat in his chair for a moment. He had no answer and didn’t want to spend time wasting on what if’s. If the planets changed sides it must have been a pretty convincing transmission. Either way, the aliens were on the way and he had a speech to deliver.
“Prepare the defenses. Nothing else we can do now General”
The phone began to ring.
“Dammit what now”
He looked at the phone and realized it was the red line. Odd.
“General, am I crazy or is this not your direct line that is calling me right now?”
“You are not crazy”
“I advise not to pick-”
President Kane waved his hand dismissively and picked it up
“President Kane speaking”
“You are not forgiven. We have not forgotten” rumbled a dark voice
President Kane shivered at the sound of the voice but smoothed his nerves. He was President after all.
“Yeah well, we haven’t either, but I don’t really remember because we aren’t the same humans that did it. Thousand years bud, get over it”
Kane smiled at the General whose mouth was open in shock and shook his head.
The voice continued. “Earth has two choices. You maintain your leadership position here on Earth. You operate under our direction”
“And choice 2?”
“We find someone who is willing”
“So you want me to act as a puppet leader. You are installing a puppet government in our solar system?”
“You are no longer the leader of the solar system, but just Earth. Each moon and planet has their own leader”
“That’s crap.”
“Choose or die”
“I don’t think so. This isn’t the cold war and that was almost 2000 years ago. We’ve played this game before”
“Die then”
Kane felt a rumbling followed by a loud crack. He quickly found himself staring at a hole in the ceiling covered in debris and gasping for air.
“Shit, what was that?”
The room was smashed, but still intact. A metal container was halfway in the ground steaming. President Kane swayed but managed to stand up cautiously walked towards it. It made odd noises followed by a door popping off. A monstrous-sized alien stepped out.
“What in the-”
President Kane exploded and his body went limp.
The alien stood in the center towering every object in the room.
“General”
“I’m here”
“You were right.”
“Yes. He is unfit for presidency and our race fractured”
“Fractured no more. Humankind’s potential will no longer be wasted. It will be key to our Empire.”
“Who will you place on Earth now?”
“Do not pretend to be humble. You General. Your loyalty and efforts in ensuring this plan was critical to our success. The announcement has already been made, your family line has served us well President Kim Jung Hyeon.
