Karens in the Wild? Controversial stories get a million views

How far are you willing to go for money?

The story went viral. And it is all based on a premise that angers a very few people on one hand and appears to be a living example of wokeness run amok on the other.

The article is a political commentary on how women named Susan now want to be protected from people using the name Susan as a generic label for angry white women being angry in public. Yes, folks, there is a belief out there that a person’s given name can now be discriminated against.

And there are examples of people going public for this cause. One woman named Susan even went on the Next Door website in my neighborhood and advertised a support group for the tormented Susans of the world to get together and share their miseries.

But even in the liberal community where I live, this idea was not well received. My local liberals actually stood up and drew the line on what they believed is true discrimination and what is trivial nonsense. And they hardly ever, ever do that…

So the article is controversial at best and shady at worse.

But, dear writers, here’s what the article earned for the writer —

Hundreds of reads

Thousands of views

Thousands of comments

Hundred of pissed off readers

Hundreds of writing dollars earned

So do you believe that the results justify the means in this case?

Is it worth it to write stories like this or does it bring our writing craft down?

How far are you willing to go to make money?

If your answers are yes, then I have some new bumper stickers I want to sell you. Just let me know in the comments. And then get ready — you will be reading about guys named Brandon who want their name to be protected next…

Cheers to all of my Valentines out there today.
