World’s First Solar Power Airport
Cochin International Airport Limited (CIAL), Kerala

Doesn’t it excite you when you learn some project would avoid 300,000 tons of carbondioxide emission in its 25-year plan which is roughly around planting 3 million trees?
You must be wondering which project I am talking about.
Well, I’m talking about the world’s first airport, Cochin International Airport (CIAL), fully powered by solar power.
Located at Nedumbassery, about 25 kilometres from the main city centre, CIAL is first of its kind which is developed under a public-private partnership model in India.
Sharing some pictures during my visit to Cochin during pre-COVID times.

The airport’s solar power plant is producing around 50,000 to 60,000 units of electricity per day to be consumed for all its operational functions.

The eco-friendly initiative of CIAL has bagged international accolades like ‘The Champions of the Earth-2018’ award by the United Nations.

Thanks for stopping by. Love and light to all.
