World War I: The Great War and its Aftermath

World War I was a huge, really big, and important war that happened a long time ago, from 1914 to 1918. Many countries from all over the world were involved, and it caused a lot of changes in the world. Let’s look at what happened during this war and what came after.

The Start of the War:

The war began when an important person, Archduke Franz Ferdinand of Austria-Hungary, got shot. This event happened in a city called Sarajevo on June 28, 1914. It was like a spark that lit a big fire because many countries started fighting each other after that.

Austria-Hungary, and the Ottoman Empire.

The Trenches and Stalemate:

A lot of the fighting in this war happened in something called trenches. Trenches were like long, deep ditches in the ground where soldiers stayed and fought. Life in the trenches was really tough.
