Workmen are remodeling our house: why do I have to keep telling them how to do their job? I rarely write a rant, but this is one. Be prepared.

We hired a construction company (with an awesome reputation) to remodel our house. They began in October, and we have yet to see light at the end of the tunnel. The contractor and the subcontractors have made some avoidable mistakes; slowing the process and increasing their workload. Some delays were COVID-19 related. We’ve tried to be understanding; fortunately, they’re also aiming for satisfactory results.

Checking the work after completion is clearly not soon enough. I’ve learned to make lists, point out pitfalls, and given specific instructions before they embark on many of the tasks.

But should I really have to remind them not to put their tools on a newly-finished island top? (Yes, I think I do.)
