Working From Home is not as Luxurious as I Imagined it to be

Moms working from Home are multitasking like always

I always idealized mothers working from home. To my understanding they had the most comfortable job, no hectic commute, no daily formal attire selection and above all being with your kids 24/7.

In 2020 the pandemic took over the globe and changed the whole outlook of this world ,one thing that seemed to be in my favour was the chance to work from home. Six months into this ordeal, I have to admit it is not as luxurious as I perceived it to be.

Working from home means Multitasking

It didn’t take me much time to realize that working from home meant a lot of multitasking especially when kids were off from school. I had to read their scribbled notes while attending the departmental meetings just to find out something silly and then hear them laugh about it in the background.

I had too many distractions

Working from home meant you were available all the time for everything. My attention was divided, and I got distracted very easily. Home working increased my appetite and certainly destroyed my snacking habits.

My Working Hours Increased

My working hours considerably increased and I never found myself away from work or relaxed at home .I realized I was working over time with out any extra pay and still struggling to meet the targets.

Every feeling went down in black and white

Simple official conversations had to be written down in email. I had to be very careful because I felt answerable for every tiny statement I made. No puns or favours. Every step had to be taken sensibly.

Grass is always greener at the other end

The whole atmosphere of pandemic is very distressing for now I do prefer working from home but I wont be untruthful if I say I miss going to work and socializing with my friends and colleagues.
