Work Balance

Man, I stopped writing for awhile

So, I had to get a job recently because, well, someone has to pay the bills and it seems my name was on most of them so, what do you know I started back up and working.

New Job/Old Job

I got a new job, not to say writing isn’t supporting me, it is, but unfortunately not in the financial area of my life as I had hoped. I got my old job back so it’s not too bad and I like the place. It’s a resort on the water in Florida. I do housekeeping and reception, it’s kind of new but old as I have been there before prior for a little over 4 years.

Oh No

Oh, no is right, and guess what I forgot to focus on when I got the job? You guessed it! I forgot the freaking balancing act we all hear about from aspiring writers.

Work And Writing Balance

I was falling off bad man! Whoever said this balancing act of work and writing was going to be easy may have not actually known or even tried what they were preaching to the choir.

Balance is not something you find, it’s something you create — Jana Kingsford

Balance can only be found when you become aware of the fact that you can create this very balance. I may not write as much as I used to but that doesn’t mean I won’t write. I just won’t get so hard on myself because I haven't, because honestly, I really think that hinders me not to mention stresses me the hell out, so?

I’m stepping back and taking a break and that is okay. I still write, of course, but until I get back on track, I will just write when I can and not let all the small stuff get to me so much. I find this helps my writing have a more relaxed tone to it. Working isn’t so bad because I realize giving myself a break from my laptop and out in the real world truly helps my writing more than anything else.

So hey, if you're walking a tightrope and don’t quite know how to balance yet? Don’t stress out too much because in the end, stress only kills your voice and who would want to do that after learning so much about the ways of walking tight rope? Don’t you want to be able to speak when you finally make it across?

Take care everyone, happy writing
