Words of Advice — Naughty or Nice?

Launching a website of collaborative advice

Words of advice The elixir of life Or directions to strife

Seeds of insight To tackle the fight

Given freely to see clearly Intention to help Ease the pain felt

Stories we share In moments we care Spoken with truth With insights for use

No one size fits all Some support, some stall What is right for one Will make another run

Ears deaf to awaken Or perception mistaken Alchemy of joy Or scientific ploy

Reject or take Ours to own As we claim stake Into our unknown

Advice arrives at our doorstep welcomed or not.

Times we ask for it.

Some moments begging for us to ask and other times we don’t want to hear it at all.

We have all been there.

Half listening to a long-lost cousin telling you why you are single and always will be single. Unless…unless… you take their simple but judgemental advice, of course.

Ahhhhh! Help ME!!

What I have found, though, advice is easier to savour when served by strangers. Those removed from the inner sanctum of daily life.

My guess is it’s the reason advice columns have been so popular over the years.

Straight-up advice sought with the option to remain anonymous.

When asked this way, I have no hesitation in offering my 2 cents. Making sure that the person knows they can take it or leave it.

All I am doing is adding my sprinkle of life wisdom to their play pot of perception.

Which is why I said, “Yes!”

Yes — to add my take to the mix on someone’s challenges with life.

When asked. Specifically.

Anonymously.

No — to sugar coating. Telling it as I see it.

Yep — I can do that.

Have already started.
