Words are never just words

A poem

Words can tear us down. Words from chapters ago, are etched into the marrow of my soul. Scars forever raw, wounds aching fresh.

Words spawn wailing ghosts. They orchestrate poltergeists, underneath my flesh. The aftermath festers and crawls.

Words are also my salvation. Words can deliver light when I’m drowning in the night. Your words — a warm embrace, velvet merlot.

Your words — ambrosia, divine medicine. Your words — angelic wisps, tattooed on my heart. Words are never just words.
