A Tanka on Stillness
Without Light
Sit motionless in the dark
The light quietly with a click in the stillness now turns itself off and I, cast down in shadows sit motionless in my chair
When there is no motion, those things that require motion to stay awake (and on) just fall asleep. They will do nothing, there will be no light.
Stillness, however, is not only a lack of motion; it is an effort of preparation for intentional, directed movement.
You can only find your path by walking in it. But first you must have some idea of where and why you might be going.
