With Held Breath
Always attracted to the possibility A bringing together Of hope with reality The visual consideration Where the arbitrariness of coincidence Bonds with the pure essential and thus necessary Then moving from the freedom of the beginning of exploration Through the patterns the forms that decision takes The infinite becomes finite when brought down to the world To be managed and acted upon What is unavoidable is also inevitable Yet inevitability exists first in the absolute The unavoidable only comes to be When you travel towards what you don’t realize yet Is, in fact, inevitable You keep seeking options Refusing to accept what your sinking heart already knows But still you keep on For you know if you can just hold out Past the sun’s demise The onset of deceitful velvety darkness Before the nightlights are revealed Past the doubt, the fear, the worry That the lamplighter will not come tonight You will once more be able to gaze out beyond the stars Leaving the mundane behind For an endless number of potential futures unbound As you open your arms wide And embrace them all
