Wish I May Wish I Might: Have the Wish

In response to Dancing Elephants Press Prompt 42 of 52

Small Blue butterfly. Photograph is by the author

I wish for more blue butterflies

I wish for butterflies galore

Butterflies up to the ceiling

And down to the floor

I wish for peace and love

I wish for trust and truth

I wish for happy, smiling youth

I wish for lots of gardens to nurture and to love

I wish to help people stay in the houses that they love

By tidying wild gardens

And filling them with love

I wish I may, I wish I might

Have the wish I wish tonight.

Notes:

I wish I may, I wish I might,

Have the wish I wish tonight

Is taken from an old nursery rhyme, I used to sing to my children at bedtime, along with many others

Do you know which one? Go on, guess; it is a popular nursery song often sung in reception classes in the UK.

With love, Hermione

P.S.: thank you Vidya Sury, Collecting Smiles for the prompt and story about sharing your wishes with your mother. What a gift to have given you.

How I wish

I myself got this wishing idea from Deepak Chopra who writes on Medium too. After reading his book Synchronicity, I wished for a house and got it. I was lucky enough to live in a beautiful place for 3 years of my life and to raise my children there. We were surrounded by butterflies in May, and I remember planting 3 small ponds there and watching the dragonflies lay their eggs in summer. Lots of fond memories of those big wishes.

Now, as you can see from the song above, my wishes are more humble, but I hope they have a bigger impact on more people and insects.

P.P.S: The song was: Twinkle Twinkle Little Star
