Wisdom Is A Tool
Please use it when and where necessary.
Hey, it’s not a manual; it’s not all written down. It can be. It can be what many people refer to as scriptures or ancient texts from somewhere; how about DIY books on the best ways to do something? Wisdom, I think so.
No, you don’t have to pack it around, but it wouldn’t hurt. Think of it like a set of tools or a Swiss Army knife. It’s versatile, can be applied to multiple circumstances, and is definitely used more than once.
Where Do You Find It
If you’re searching for wisdom, search no further than the box of tea bags in your cupboard. Or, Google, inquire: “A list of wisdom.” Or. “How do I know something is wisdom?” Or:
You can wait for Wednesdays at 12:01 a.m. Pacific Time when each week's new article on wisdom is released.
Let’s Have A Bit Of Fun
Share with our readers your favorite piece of wisdom. I’ll start:
My father, an engineer and tool and dye maker by trade, didn’t know much about business but gave me two pieces of advice. First, never do business with aerospace companies. He meant to say don’t allow them to be the source of most of your income.
Next, his most valuable piece of advice:
“As you ramble on through life, Whatever be your goal, Keep your eye upon the doughnut, And not upon the hole.” — The Optimists Creed
I’ll let you analyze this, but it has a very strong business message. I’ve often used it in lectures, speeches, sales, and leadership training.
Your Challenge, If You Should Choose To Accept It
Tell us one piece of wisdom from a family member in your comment. You don’t have to explain it if you don’t want to. Just give it to us, and let us have fun deciphering it.
With any luck, this will be another challenge accepted for the month of February.
This week, the first Wednesday of January, is the second month of our Wisdom Column. How are we doing? Is there something you would like to see more or less of? Your feedback is always welcome. Meanwhile, don’t forget to check in here to find the latest great stories from DEP writers:
