Winters of Life, Warm Hearts, and Falling in Love
Six-Word Photo Story: Freestyle
Warm hearts with your loving light.
When my love asked me to go out on a date, I didn’t hesitate to say, Yes!, even though I hadn’t skated in years.
We rented skates, laced up, and hit the ice. Skating looked easy for him, but not for me — awkward like a newbie.
How could I forget how to skate?!
As a child, I spent my winters at outdoor rinks. Round and round, forwards and backwards. Every figure eight became a symbol of courage and overcoming. Gliding free, with my heart synced to the music played over loudspeakers.
Where is she, the younger me, now?
A kid whizzed by — all it took to throw me off balance.
On my derrière, I slid across the rink, clearing the surface of snow and ice.
My love rushed over to help me up. I hugged him tight and for much longer than he expected.
And, with a kiss, he made it all better.
