Abstract

The article titled "Wings for Just One Day" expresses a deep desire of the author to experience the sensation of flying, even if just for a day. The author contrasts the ease of taking flight in dreams with the reality of being earthbound. Despite this, there is an acceptance and contentment found in keeping the notion of wings symbolically in the heart. The author finds a connection with the sea, listening to its murmur as a substitute for the unattainable dream of walking on water. Overall, the author is at peace with the limitations of reality, expressing happiness and a restless, almost poetic, spirit.

Wings for Just One Day

It would be crazy

“Courtesy of Misa Ferreira de Rezende”

I wanted for just one day

To have wings and fly

In dreams I already can do that

It’s easy as walking on the sea.

But in real life I have my feet on the ground

I keep the wings in my heart

And about the sea all I can have

Is to listen to its murmur

But that’s all right

I can not complain

I’m happy, I’m restless

And almost poet.
