Windows of Opportunity Don’t Stay Open Long
Take advantage of them when they come along
Windows of opportunity exist throughout our lives. They are a chance to take advantage of a rapidly fluctuating situation. We must act swiftly while they are open, or take the risk of losing out on them altogether.
We can ignore them, shake them off as fever dreams, or just decide to look the other way. We can close our eyes, shutter our minds, or simply refuse to acknowledge their very existence at all.
It may be a chance for a romantic interlude, a rousing championship match in sports like the Super Bowl or World Cup, or a risky business venture that could reap huge financial rewards if we act quickly.
Any hesitation, any second thoughts, doubts, or fear of failure must be banished from our thoughts. If we wish to secure the prize we must act on our intuition, that all-to-human part of our brains that relies on more than mere data.
You can call it a hunch, you can call it inner vision, you can call it a premonition or a sixth sense.
It is a gut feeling that cannot be rationalized, logically assessed, meticulously analyzed, or fully understood.
It is a part of our human consciousness that takes us back to our earlier primeval days of cavemen hunting and gathering for mere existence.
Instincts that hearken back to the time when we believed in magic, mystery, and mystical powers that we no longer utilize in our modern, pre-arranged, and pre-digested rational points of view lifetimes.
Do you believe in telepathy, empathy, or any other kind of extra-sensory paranormal perceptions? Clairvoyance, presentiment, or precognition?
These qualities or abilities are a part of our brains that we have discarded in favor of our rational, logical, and fact-based point of view of the world.
A way to maintain a semblance of order, sanity, and logical progressions to find comfort in as we make our way through our lifetimes.
Marching lockstep through our existence with the certainty that we are playing the game of life by the rules and laws we mostly all have chosen to adopt for a seamless, mundane existence. It’s just easier that way.
Everything is done by rote, memorization, and adherence to the commonly accepted rules and regulations. No pain, no gain. No risk, no reward.
Opportunities are a rare thing, a choice point in life, the road not taken.
Some situations must be dealt with immediately. We need to listen to our inner voice and strike while the iron is hot to reap the rewards of taking advantage of our windows of opportunity.
These windows of choice and chance are often not fully realized at the time. If not seen, or seen and simply ignored they will be long gone, but will never be forgotten.
It is a chance to take advantage of a situation that if not acted upon will slip through our fingers like a handful of sand at the beach, appear or disappear like a ray of sunshine on a cloudy day, or a wispy remnant of a dream when we first wake up.
Some people prefer to live their lives in a mundane, orderly, and safe manner. They prefer living in black and white, not in glorious color, three-dimensional splendor, or virtual reality.
There is nothing wrong with this attitude. It is common to most humans and allows for an orderly transition from one day to the next.
A procession of days leading to weeks, weeks leading to months, and months leading to years and eventually an orderly death. Elanor Rigby.
Some people prefer the quiet, less adventuresome approach to life.
But some are travelers who wish to explore other countries or the mysteries of the universe. To skydive, paraglide, climb mountains, or swim oceans.
Some people choose to explore the inner self through meditation, introspection, and self-reflection.
These two are the types who can take the best advantage of any window of opportunity as they present themselves to each of us throughout the course of our lives.
There is nothing wrong with either of these ways of viewing the world and living our lives. By the time we realize the window is open, it may already be closing.
To sleep, perchance to dream. It is up to each of us. We are all connected…
