Winning
Win Like Michael Jordan
Be remarkable.
“If you do the work, you get rewarded. There are no shortcuts in life.” — Michael Jordan
Jordan is The GOAT (don’t argue). The Greatest player of All Time! He played the game of basketball like no other.
But his success didn’t just happen overnight. It didn’t happen by watching basketball. It didn’t happen by making it to the NBA and then sitting back and relaxing.
Jordan practiced like no other player in the history of the sport. He put in 200% at practice and 1000% for the full duration of each game. He didn’t just put enough effort to win. He went all out, every single game! He didn’t take it easy when it was a guaranteed win. He constantly gave it his all! Never stopped.
He didn’t just meet expectations, he constantly exceeded all expectations. Even when his team lost, Jordan made sure he tried his best to the very end.
This is the magic formula. This is what tilts the scale. The difference between ok and remarkable. Don’t just deliver ok performance. Don’t settle for mediocre. Don’t just cruise. This sort of mentality and performance will get you stuck, and probably fired/out of business in the long run.
“Do deliver sensational performance, far beyond expectations, and at every opportunity expand your job beyond its official boundaries.” — Jack Welch
You’re not entitled to a raise or a promotion or a profit if you simply meet expectations. That’s your job. You might keep your job/business if you meet expectations, but you’re not impressive. They hired you to do a certain job. You’re not doing anything extra by delivering what was expected.
Simply put, exceed expectations. Be remarkable.
Exceed expectations with your employers or customers. And keep exceeding expectations. Never stop.
“This a Rollie, not a stopwatch, shit don’t ever stop.” — Drake
