The article discusses Will Smith's slapping of Chris Rock at the Oscars, attributing the incident to personal and public pressures on Smith, and calls for appropriate consequences for his actions.
Abstract

Will Smith Slapped Chris Rock Because He Could
People don’t get to treat each other like that without consequences

This discussion that Will Smith was defending his” Black Queen” is bullshit. If that had been Jimmy Kimmel or Steve Harvey on that stage telling that exact same joke, Will would have laughed, Jada would have frowned, and they would have kept on stepping.
Will Smith sat in the front row of a venue with masters of ceremonies who are comedians. He sat with a bald woman. Come on now. Stop it.
The Oscars have a long tradition of making fun of celebrities, which all the three mistresses of ceremonies were doing throughout the show. The Oscars deliberately hires comedians as hosts because it is part of the show to make fun of the stars. Everyone knows this.
Jada Pickett Smith has subjected her marriage to tremendous pressure via her revelations about her spouse on social media. I’m not a follower, yet in my travels have picked up that Jada Pickett Smith had sex with her son’s mentally and physically ill friend in her house. This occurred in her marital bed with her husband living in the other wing. Sometimes her children were also in the house when August visited.
August was their son’s friend, Jada and Will helped him using their connections. There are many pictures with her, Will Smith, August, and her children enjoying life at the Smith home.
There is no judgment here; consenting adults do what they want. I should not know that Jada shared with Oprah that she thinks Will makes love to her like she is a little girl. Jada implied Will’s member is smaller than August’s member. I am not supposed to know that. I’m not following Will or Jada on social media.
Will Smith has become a meme. Millions have made fun of his devastated, scrunched-up face, tears in his eyes. Perhaps part of his frustration with the “joke” stemmed from this prior pressure.
By herself, Jada Pinkett Smith expanded the word “entanglement.” An entanglement was what she claimed she had with August. The “entanglement” meant she graduated into a sexual relationship with the much younger man. Why? According to Jada, no one had made her feel good in a long time and she wanted to feel good. No one knows how that information affected Will Smith mentally, but Will Smith.
When my husband and I buy tickets to comedy shows, we do not sit in the front rows because we do not want to be part of the show. Comedians love to spot and talk to random people to make others laugh. Everyone knows this.
We saw an incredible lack of self-control in a 53-year-old man. Will Smith is 6'2” and 220 pounds. Chris Rock is 5’9" and 160 pounds. Combine the lack of self-control with wretched self-calculation, and you end up with the craziness we observed.
The authorities need to punish Will Smith for not leaving when asked to leave after slapping Chris Rock. Membership in the Academy is not a right. That video will be forever embarrassing and degrading. As Jim Carey said, “It is ubiquitous.”
The Academy needs to censure Will Smith for assaulting another human being on live international television. There must be appropriate consequences. If the Academy Awards do not wish to be known as an event where physical assault can be perpetrated, and nothing happens to the aggressor, Mr. Smith must be appropriately punished for his behavior. We definitely don’t want this to ever happen again.
