Will My Writing Be As Hot As This Weather In August?
July’s Reflection + August’s Goals
I don’t know about where you all live, but it is HOT here. I live in a very humid climate. So, there have been days in the upper 90s that feel like the 100s because of the humidity. The second you walk outside, the air is hot and heavy. It takes me about 1.3 seconds before I am sweating. To top it off, my car’s A/C hasn’t been working well. 🙃
So, to put it cheesily… Will my writing be as hot as the weather this month?
After terrible burnout in June, I have been taking it easy on here, and let’s just say my stats are showing just how easy I have been taking it.
I started writing these reflection back in October! It’s almost been a year. I have watched my growth and earnings decline for months since then, but I keep showing up. I keep writing these articles, because I am convinced that one day I will thank myself for showing the good, the bad, and the ugly parts of my writing journey.

July’s Stats + Thoughts
Articles Posted: 8
Articles Read: 186
My Earnings: $28.20
Number of Followers: +36 for a total of 2,483
Email Subscribers: +1 for a total of 64
Referred Members: Still at 4
I did less work in June, and I made $5 more. I don’t know the last time I made that little. So, my stats were just bad this month haha.
I have had 64 email subscribers for a couple of months. I just keep losing and gaining enough to keep me right at 64.
I feel like I have finally accepted that I am not doing it for the money at this point in my life. I realize that I am not working as hard as I could be, and I am okay with that. I don’t plan on always taking it this easy, but there are outside factors that are keeping me from writing a ton.
For now, I choose fun and focused connections with the writers that I love, and I really am content with that.
Despite the small numbers, I feel like I have made better connections with a few different writers this month while still maintaining my connections with my longtime friends on here. That’s a huge win in my book.
My Plans for August
I don’t have any travel plans for August. I plan on it being a pretty laid back month.
The only things I have planned so far are going to a friend’s book signing in town and a baby shower for a really good friend of mine.
I guess we will just have to see where life ends up taking me outside of writing.

In July, I talked about my new love for bullet journaling. I am not the most artistic, but I love having a journal full of colorful entries. It’s fun to fill it in each day.
In August, I plan on continuing with it. I spent hours yesterday getting my journal ready for August. I played the live action Beauty and the Beast on my TV, and I got to work. It was a great way to spend my rest day.

I also mentioned in July that I had just bought a kindle, and I planned on reading more.
I am 42% of the way through my sixth book, “It’s Not Summer Without You” by Jenny Han.
I have read: “The Bookstore Murder” by Flora Steele, “Maybe Someday” By Colleen Hoover, “Maybe Not” by Colleen Hoover, “Maybe Now” by Colleen Hoover, “The Summer I Turned Pretty” by Jenny Han.
I am really into cheesy romance series right now lol.
As far as writing goes this month, I plan on sticking with the same strategy.
I post two articles a week. On Mondays, I post whatever I want, and on Fridays, I try to post a Christian article. My goal for reading is 10 articles a day Monday-Saturday.
This strategy didn’t bring in many new people or money this past month, but it did bring me joy (which was the word I gave for July). For now, that is what I need from writing again.
