Summary

The website content features a personal poem titled "Will I Never Get No Satisfaction?" by Jupiter Grant, exploring the theme of satisfaction, or lack thereof, in life, and includes a call to other writers to participate in the "Satisfaction" prompt.

Abstract

The poem "Will I Never Get No Satisfaction?" reflects on the author's perpetual state of dissatisfaction despite proclaiming not to need much. It humorously lists various desires such as more time, sleep, chocolate, wine, food, sex, and money, acknowledging a greed that overshadows gratitude. The author recognizes the need for mindfulness to appreciate what one has rather than focusing on what is lacking. Despite this awareness, the author admits to a pessimistic attitude that prevents seeing a full glass, instead always noticing it as half empty. The piece concludes with a nod to the Rolling Stones' famous song, accepting the struggle with contentment. Additionally, Jupiter Grant extends an invitation to fellow writers to engage with the same "Satisfaction" prompt, fostering a community of creative expression.

Will I Never Get No Satisfaction?

A response to the poetry prompt, “Satisfaction”

It seems I’m never satisfied, no matter what I’ve got. Though I proclaim, “I don’t need much”, I always want a lot.

I want more time, I want more sleep, more chocolate and more wine. I cannot seem to make my greed with gratitude align.

I want more food! I want more sex! I need more money! Now! My eyes more greedy than my guts, I’m such a hoggish sow!

Perhaps I ought to train myself through mindfulness and musing to focus on the gifts I gain instead of things I’m losing.

My pessimistic attitude means even when I’ve plenty, I never see my glass as full, I only see it empty!

Such is my avarice, I fear whatever benefaction I’ll look that gift horse in the mouth. Can’t get no satisfaction.

Thank you to Lucy Dan 蛋小姐 (she/her/她) for inviting me to join in the “Satisfaction” prompt. I invite Tree Langdon Kira Dawn Lindsay Soberano-Wilson Jac Harmony Denise G Christina M.
