Will Elon Musk Take Control of Our Minds After Buying Twitter for $44 Billion?
For better or worse — this crazy genius bought Twitter.
The last month, on March 14, Elon Musk — the wealthiest person on the planet — bought 9.2 percent of Twitter to become the company’s largest outside shareholder.
Now, this crazy man took over Twitter for $44 billion.
Elon Musk has more than 86M followers on Twitter, and his tweets are super powerful. A single tweet from him is enough to bring a massive storm into the stock market and make people insane. We have already witnessed that several times.
As this crazy genius has become the ultimate owner of Twitter, a social media platform with more than 206 million daily active users, only god knows what will happen next. Though he says he wants to make Twitter “an inclusive arena for free speech.”
“Free speech is the bedrock of a functioning democracy, and Twitter is the digital town square where matters vital to the future of humanity are debated,” Musk says in a recent statement.
He further mentions, “I also want to make Twitter better than ever by enhancing the product with new features, making the algorithms open source to increase trust, defeating the spam bots, and authenticating all humans. Twitter has tremendous potential — I look forward to working with the company and the community of users to unlock it.”
And what does this free speech mean?
In his words, “I hope that even my worst critics remain on Twitter, because that is what free speech means.”
But we understand the subtext. We know that he will not only say whatever he likes but also try to manipulate us to fill his pocket with more money so that he can fuel his rockets.
Twitter is a crucial platform for influential people, including politicians, business tycoons, celebrities, etc., to amplify their messages and manipulate/form public opinion.
Now it belongs to a man whose life is solely dedicated to establishing a colony on Mars. No wonder he will use it to manipulate us to join his mission.
I don’t think it’s a good sign that the wealthiest man on the planet has taken control of one of the most influential media platforms.
