Wild Horses Couldn’t Tear Us Apart

They are being inhumanly rounded up by helicopter courtesy of the Federal Government.

Living in Arizona for over 45 years, one never tires of the sight of the Salt River Wild Horses, as beautiful and majestic an animal as exists in this country.

A popular summer activity in Phoenix is tubing down the Salt River. All along the way, the Salt River Wild Horses will be found grazing by the river, wading into the water to stay cool. Peaceful, kind, and beautiful, they watch you with amusement floating by.

But others wish to kill them. Though the BLM claims otherwise, wild horses with government branding have been traced to kill pens to be sent to slaughter, the result of loopholes in BLM plans.

Several investigations concluded the BLM/federal government are complicit in killing them. An entire industry has developed around these roundups. Millions of dollars go to helicopter contractors and livestock operators who hold the horses in holding pens, many for sale.

The Wild Horse Campaign has a solution proposed to end helicopter roundups, injecting them with contraceptives. They have been doing this already. The BLM also claims this is being done by them. There is no evidence of this. Helicopters run horses to pens, many until they drop. Some die. It’s 100% inhumane treatment.

Waddell (BLM) said that in her view, the adoption program has been a success. Reducing the risk that once-wild horses and burros end up in slaughterhouses, the BLM said revisions to its adoption program are being considered.

Ban the use of cruel helicopter roundups by supporting the Wild Horse and Burro Protection Act, H.R. 3656, led by Nevada’s US Rep. Dina Titus.
