Why Your Journey Towards Success Is All That Matters
Destinations don’t matter once we reach there. Or do we ever?

What is success?
You set a goal and strive to achieve it.
Setting a goal isn’t a biggie — anyone can do it. But the faint of hearts can’t reach their destinations, fearing they have to leave their comfortable lives behind.
True success demands an ironclad desire and extreme efforts behind it. That’s why most people you know aren’t successful.
As harsh as it may sound, most people will never have true success in their lives.
Most people don’t have what it takes to succeed
Success has a price tag on it. You have to pay the price to become successful. The harder it is to achieve your goal, the more price you have to pay for it.
The irony is, you can’t pay this price with money.
You need to have a clear vision of what success means to you, for you can’t reach your destination if you don’t have a definite goal in mind. “Either, or” won’t work here.
Let me tell you a story.
An old man was sitting under a shade tree taking rest in a sunny morning. A young man was passing by that road. He was looking for something — you can tell by the look in his eyes.
Hurriedly, he asked the old man, “where does this road go?”, thinking perhaps the old man would know.
The old man looked at the young man from top to bottom and asked, “where do you want to go?”
The young man shrugged and said, “I don’t know”
To that, the old man replied with conviction, “does it matter then? It will take you somewhere”
Know where you want to go. And work extremely hard so you can deserve success, for the best way to expect success is to deserve it.
You have to sacrifice many things for your success. You may have to leave your normal life behind.
If you want to be successful, rise above from your normal self.
There’s nothing normal about success. You can’t have success living a normal life, nor will you be able to live a normal life after you’ve become successful.
You need to have a clear vision of what success means to you, for you can’t reach your destination if you don’t have a definite goal in mind.
In your journey towards success, you’ll have many distractions. It’s easy to get distracted from your goal when you’re not focused enough.
Most people want success, but they don’t want to put in the effort. They don’t commit. That’s exactly why they will never have the taste of success.
Commit to your goal. Redefine yourself. Rewrite your story, for what you were, wouldn’t matter in becoming who you want to be. All that matters is what you’re prepared to do now, to become what you want to be.
Your journey towards success will help you deserve success
Lasting success comes when you deserve it.
Say you win a lottery worth millions. Probability is, you’ll lose all of it soon. Why? Because you didn’t work for it. You weren’t prepared to handle it. You know the amount you got, but just not the value it possesses.
Your journey towards success will make you ready for the success itself. You’ll learn with your time and toils what it takes to become successful.
The road to success is often full of obstacles. You will fail repeatedly.
Do you know the difference between a successful and an unsuccessful person? The successful person failed more times than the unsuccessful person even tried.
“I have not failed. I’ve just found 10,000 ways that won’t work.”
— Thomas Edison
Success isn’t just about mindlessly failing and working hard without thinking why you’re doing what you’re doing. Have the will to learn and improve yourself in your journey towards success.
If all you do is fail and make mistakes, but learn nothing, you won’t be able to improve yourself. And if you can’t improve yourself, you’ll stay exactly where you are. Success will remain a dream for you.
Lasting success comes when you deserve it.
Success isn’t about the destination either. It’s about the journey: the process you learn to adopt in your journey towards success.
Most people know the price of everything, but not the values they endure. They have the wrong notion that a successful life means having expensive cars, designer suits, enormous houses, etc. But these “luxury” items don’t define success.
Successful people don’t like to show off, for they only buy the things that give them more value than what they’ve paid. They’ve learned this the hard way on the road to success. They’ve sacrificed their yesterday’s for their today’s.
Most people don’t want to work for success. That’s too tough for them. Showing off is easy. They take the easy path instead.
“We buy things we don’t need with money we don’t have to impress people we don’t like.”
― Dave Ramsey
They buy expensive luxury items on credit to emulate people who they “think” are successful. Little do they know that they are inviting eternal miseries in their lives with credits.
There’s no destination for success
Or, there may be, if you set one.
For the truly successful people, success is not a destination — it’s a journey. For them, success is a never-ending journey. And yet they never get tired, for they do only what they love.
You can’t be successful at anything if you don’t do what you love.
People take lucrative jobs they hate, for those jobs shower them with money. They measure success with money. But money shouldn’t be your measure of success.
In your journey, you will face many challenges and will have the urge to overcome those challenges to go forward
Money is only a means to an end. Other than the financial net worth, success is not dependent on how much money you make.
Successful people know this very well. That’s why they don’t run after money. They are diligent and disciplined in whatever they do. They continuously try to improve themselves at what they do. That’s how they constantly get better.
In your journey towards success, you don’t have any competitors. If you want to compete with anyone, compete with your former self. Make it your goal to go to bed a little better than you were when you woke up.
Have a clear definition of success in mind. Make your journey towards success your priority, for your destination wouldn’t matter once you reach there.
Life is like a video game. Or, you can say video games emulate real life, where you have to pass one level to go to the next. You face a minor obstacle at a level only to face a bigger one in the next.
With the passing of each level, you increase your strength. You become more resilient.
In your journey, you will face many challenges and will have the urge to overcome those challenges to go forward. It’s the ever-thirsty nature of the successful people that make their successes lasting.
Your journey towards success teaches you how to maintain success itself. If you stop the very thing that made you successful in the first place, your success will not endure.
Successful people become so by doing something they love. They started this very thing knowing very well they’ll do it even when they become successful and even when they’ll have money.
Besides, the destination is nothing without the journey. If you don’t enjoy the journey towards success, you won’t be able to enjoy the destination either.
You become successful doing what you love. If you love doing something, you will continue to do it against all obstacles and failures in your journey.
No setbacks and no amount of mistakes can hold you against your will. You’ll know that success is all about the journey.
In Conclusion
Successful people are different than most people in that they are indifferent to success itself. They become successful in doing something they love.
They love the struggles that come with it; the toils, and failures that set them back and all the mistakes that only seal their successes.
Enjoy your journey towards success. It’s all that matters.
